Excellence In Safety Earns Six Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards

The Minnesota Safety Council awarded Egan Company with six Governor’s Safety Awards for achievements in occupational safety for 2020.

Four Outstanding Achievement Awards were earned, acknowledging continuous improvement with an Incidence Rate that is 51-90% better than the industry average. Two Meritorious Achievement Awards were also achieved, recognizing incidence rates that are better than the industry average for at least three years.

This marks the 14th year in which Egan has received multiple Governor’s Safety Awards. Safety is a core value and always the number one priority at Egan. Our motto “Safety Brings You Home” represents our commitment to keeping employees safe at their jobsite 100% of the time.

Strong Safety Performance Earns Governor’s Safety Awards

Since 1934, the annual Governor’s Safety Awards program has honored Minnesota employers that are committed to workplace health and safety.

During this Spring’s 85th Annual Minnesota Safety & Health Conference, Egan Company received seven Governor’s Safety Awards for exceptional safety performance in 2018. This marks the 12th year Egan has been awarded multiple Governor’s Safety Awards.

Overall, Egan was one of approximately 294 employers to be honored through the awards program and one of 170 winners of the Meritorious Achievement award. Meritorious Achievement recognizes companies with incidence rates that are better than the industry average for at least three years, and a score between 50 and 74 on a 100-point safety program evaluation scale.

Safety Performance Recognized as Exceptional

For more than 10 years, we’ve been awarded multiple Governor’s Safety Awards by the Minnesota Safety Council for this commitment to workplace safety and health. And, this year proves to be no different.

A Decade of Safety Recognition

For the tenth consecutive year, Egan was awarded multiple Governor’s Safety Awards by the Minnesota Safety Council for its commitment to workplace safety and health.

Egan received two Meritorious Achievement Awards recognizing incident rates that are better than the industry average for at least three years, and a score between 50 and 74 on a 100-point safety program evaluation program scale.

In addition, Egan was one out of 108 winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award, which recognizes exceptional efforts in implementing a comprehensive safety program and the excellent safety record we have achieved as a result.

“Recognition is always great, but that isn’t why we have a strong safety culture at Egan,” said Larry Hanson, Egan Company Safety Director. “Dedication to our safety culture starts at the top, and we are very fortunate to have leaders that are committed to providing a safe workplace for every Egan employee.”

Award in Safety Excellence

Egan Company received four Governor’s Safety Awards for achieving safety records better than the industry average in 2014, including an Outstanding Achievement Award and three Meritorious Achievement Awards.

National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)

Nietz Electric, a Rochester-based brand of Egan, received two awards from NECA. The Zero-Injury Award was given to recognize a full year without recordable incidents and the Safety Excellence Award distinguishes exceptional safety programs based on comparisons to BLS data and other electrical contractors.

Egan Earns Governor’s Safety Awards

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (March 11, 2015) – The Minnesota Safety Council has awarded four Governor’s Safety Awards to Egan Company for superior performance in workplace safety and health.

“Employers like Egan Company know that safety isn’t automatic,” said Paul Aasen, President of the Minnesota Safety Council. “It takes attention, dedication, and continuous effort to protect employees.”

Egan is one of 79 companies to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award; recipients of this award have incident rates that are 52-90% better than the industry average and a score between 75 and 90 on the safety program evaluation scale. Egan also received three Meritorious Achievement Awards recognizing an outstanding record and incident rates better than the industry average for at least three years, respectively.

“At Egan, we demand safety—for our employees and for our customers,” said Larry Hanson, Egan Company Safety Director. “This recognition from the Minnesota Safety Council is meaningful testament that we have been effective and remained committed to workplace safety at every level.”
