Electrical // Building Technology Integration
- The Mayo Clinic’s Saint Marys Campus expansion was part of a large-scale growth and modernization of Saint Marys to help address an increasingly complex patient population, rising inpatient volume, and maintain innovative practices.
- Egan provided electrical services to the additional nine floors that total over 400,000 square feet. Originally, the project began as a five floor addition to the existing four-story building, but was later re-engineered to include four more floors.
- Floors 4-6 were completed as patient floors with each floor occupying 24 beds.
- The majority of work was completed on the building’s 11th floor, which included the installation of a 13.8KV emergency substation and 13.8KV normal substations fed from the ground floor. Additionally, 480V and 120/208V distribution panels, 480V panels and 120/208V panel boards, automatic transfer switches, and step down transformers were also installed.
- All 11th floor distribution gear was installed and energized in 13 weeks to meet a compressed job schedule.
- Other installations from the ground floor through 10th floor include: UPS system, fire alarm system, 15KV away sectionalizing switch, 480 and 120/208 distribution panels, 120/208V panel boards, and step down transformers.
- All gear was fed from the existing Saint Marys hospital distribution system with multiple coordinated switching procedures and service interruptions.
