InterClad

  • A stunning new piece of the downtown Duluth skyline: Essentia Health’s Vision Northland project, St. Mary’s Medical Center. In a Design/Assist role, the InterClad team fully enclosed the building in a unique patterned glass.
  • 942,000 square feet and 12 stories of new health care space were created for patients and staff.
  • The scope included installing 190,000 square feet of unitized curtainwall, 30,000 square feet of cassette curtainwall, and thermal doors.
  • Patterned glass was utilized to mitigate migrating birds from running into the glass – the frit applied to the glass looks transparent to humans, but is visible to birds.
  • The goal of the project was to create a healing environment where the highest quality health care can be delivered while attracting and retaining top medical professionals in the community.
